How To Install Airtec Double

Difficulty: Easy • 5 Steps

This guide will display how to install our EcoAirtec Double Insulation

EcoAirtec Double is a 4mm bubble membrane with a true aluminium foil either side. It works by reflecting unwanted heat away, aswell as reflecting and retaining heat. This results in the product creating a more ambient temperature all year round.

Our material is extremely versatile and can be used in Roofs, Walls, Floors, Sheds, Garden Buildings and many more applications!

EcoAirtec Double is available to purchase in 4 sizes from Multifoil-Insulation at the lowest trade prices!

Method Steps

  1. Roll out Airtec Double and Cut Insulation

Roll out EcoAirtec and cut the insulation for the required area you are insulating. Airtec can be installed horizontally or vertically, and can be installed either way round. The best way to cut the insulation is either with a cutting knife or multifoil scissors.

  2. Stapling And Air Cavities

Staple EcoAirtec Double to joists, rafters or battens and pull taught to create a cavity of 25mm or greater. Optimum performance is gained when there is a clear cavity either side of EcoAitec Double. Ensure the insulation is stapled a min 300mm intervals.

  3. Tape and Seal Insulation

Ensure EcoAirec Double is overlapped by 50mm on both the horizontal and vertical areas. Tape and seal these overlaps using 75mm Thermaseal Foil Joining Tape. We also recommend to fully tape around the perimeter. Having the insulation fully taped and sealed means EcoAirtec will also work as a Vapour Control Layer, which reduces condensation.

  4. Install Counter Battens

Once the insulation is fully covered and taped, now proceed with counter battens. This will create a cavity between the insulation and the internal boarding. We recommend battens to be spaced between 400mm and 600mm and usually 19mm or 25mm in depth

  5. Install Internal Boarding

Finish the project by installing a plasterboard or cladding
