The Superior Multifoil Insulation

EcoQuilt65 is our superior and most thermally efficient multifoil insulation in our entire range, even outperforming other multifoil insulation such as YBS SuperQuilt and EcoQuilt45. It is made from 19 layers consisting of reinforced heavy-duty laminated foil outer layers, reflective foil PET layers, and recycled loft quilt layers.

This is the latest addition to the EcoQuilt range created by Ecohome Insulation it is a 3-in-1, 65mm multi-layered foil insulation blanket. Our advanced multifoil has evolved from top sellers EcoQuilt Expert to EcoQuilt45 and now EcoQuilt65. Even though it is the highest thermally performing multifoil, you also benefit from an essential VCL (Vapour Control Layer) and reflective barrier. This means your home will be protected from condensation and prevent issues with dampness and mould.

EcoQuilt65 has been tested side-by-side to an alternate multifoil named SF40.

SF40 claims it has a certified core R-value of 2.57m²K/W. This figure is taken from an expired BBA certificate where it was tested at a much higher thickness of 86.1mm. SF40 is no longer sold at 86.1mm, and instead at a thinner 65mm. We believe SF40 has lost its BBA certificate due to this.

When both 65mm products are tested like-for-like under same testing methods, EcoQuilt65 has an improved R-value of 2.040m²K/W, resulting in our product being 4% thermally more efficient alongside a vast cost saving.

EcoQuilt65 is developed and manufactured near Sheffield, UK. SuperFoil SF40 is an imported product from China and currently holds no accreditation for building control.

How To Insulate Under Carpets Laminate or Vinyl using EcoTec Floor-Foam

1. Roll out EcoTec Floor-Foam

Starting at one end of the room, roll out the Ecotec FloorFoam to the desired length. We recommend starting in one corner.

2. Cutting the Insulation

When you have reached the desired length, simply cut the EcoTec Floor Foam, with a sharp Knife / Scissors. You can also make a slit in the material for radiator pipes too.

How to Insulate a Concrete Floor

1. Rolling out FloorFoam

Start by rolling out FloorFoam Insulation either vertically or horizontally on the concrete floor. EcoTec FloorFoam can then easily be cut by using Multifoil Scissors or a Cutting Knife - Both available in our Multifoil Fitting Kit.

2. Fixing Down Floor-Foam Insulation

FloorFoam is fixed onto concrete floors by using Thermaseal Double Sided Tape, or Non-Solvent Glue. Ensure FloorFoam Insulation is fully taped and sealed on butt joints on the floor. Also tape FloorFoam around the perimeter. (Thermaseal Foil Tape is provided free of charge in the Insulation Kit). Taping and sealing ensures no draught or moisture can rise up through the floor.

3. Install Preferred Final Flooring

Once your concrete floor has been covered with FloorFoam, next you can install your desired flooring. Wood & laminate flooring can be installed directly on top of FloorFoam. We recommend to use a carpet and laminate underlay prior to a carpet or laminate being installed. If a vinyl or lino is being used, we would advise the use of a plywood over the top of the FloorFoam.

How to Insulate Above a Timber Floor

1. Roll out & Cut FloorFoam

Firstly, roll out EcoTec FloorFoam either horizontally or vertically on the timber floor. FloorFoam can then be cut to desired length. We recommend FloorFoam to be cut with a cutting knife or Multifoil Scissors (Available in Multifoil Fitting Kit)

2. Stapling

Staple EcoTec FloorFoam on your timber floor at around 300mm intervals. Ensure FloorFoam Insulation is butt jointed together on both horizontal and vertical sections.

3. Taping and Sealing

Fully tape and seal around the perimeter and butt joints using Thermaseal Foil Joining Tape (Provided free of charge in kit) Taping and sealing ensures no draught or moisture can rise up through the floor.

4. Install Desired Flooring

Once the timber floor is fully covered with FloorFoam Insulation, you can then proceed to install your desired flooring. If carpet is installed, the use of an underlay is advised prior to the carpet. Laminate or wood floors can be installed directly on top of FloorFoam. If a vinyl or lino is being used, we would advise the use of a plywood over the top of the FloorFoam.

What is EcoQuilt65?

Ecohome Insulation's EcoQuilt65 is a ultra-performance multifoil insulation designed for use in a variety of building applications. It's extremely popular in loft conversions and wall constructions.

How to install EcoQuilt65?

EcoQuilt45 is installed by fixing directly on timer, such as studwork or joists. It is generally stapled or nailed. Overlaps and joins are taped and sealed with Thermaseal Foil Joining Tape.

Can you recycle EcoQuilt65?

Whilst EcoQuilt65 is not available for recycling, it is made of approx 60% recycled materials. EcoQuilt65 also will not shrink or degrade over time, and will last the lifetime of the application!

Is EcoQuilt65 waterproof?

When EcoQuilt65 is taped and sealed, it does not allow any moisture to pass through.

Do I need to use battens with this product?

To gain the best thermal benefits, it is essential to have air-gaps both sides of the insulation. This allows EcoQuilt to expand and reflect on both sides. These cavities can be created by battens, or existing timbers e.g. Rafters or Studwork.

Do I need to use a foiled-back plasterboard?

When EcoQuilt Expert is the most internal insulation layer, it will work as a high-performance Vapour Control Layer, reducing condensation. If this method is followed, there is no requirement for a Foiled-backed plasterboard.
